I got a little creative and created a heart by playing off of the handle of the teacup.

Does the Sharpie come off in the dishwasher, though? Would there be any clever way to seal this onto the ceramic? I love the idea but know for a fact if I can't put it in the dishwasher, it will never get used in our house!

I'm thrilled everyone is loving the sharpie idea...

To answer Amber's question about whether or not the Sharpie will come off in the dishwasher - I'm not certain. I haven't tried it. This project is meant for aesthetic purposes. The intent is to remove existing designs with rubbing alcohol and update them for the next upcoming holiday.

Now there are paint pens you can find in craft stores that will become permanent if you "seal" them onto your item by baking them in the oven afterwards. (You'd just need to make sure the item you have decorated is oven-proof).

I hope that helps. If anyone has any other questions...just let me know!!
